Zoo Counting Activities
Kids will practice counting a fun variety of zoo animals with these four zoo counting activities! They’re perfect for your math centers!
If your preschoolers love the zoo and zoo animals, they’re going to love these preschool zoo printables. There are four unique counting activities in this pack, and your kids are going to enjoy each one.

As we head into spring and warmer weather, it’s time to break out the zoo pass. I’m excited to spend time at the zoo with my grandson this season.
Zoo Counting Activities
If you’ve got animal lovers in your midst, they’re going to love practicing counting to ten, reading number words, and number recognition with these four math activities.
They’re very low-prep, and super easy to get ready for your little learners. Just print, laminate, cut, and go!
Preschool Zoo Theme Counting Puzzles
These counting puzzles are so much fun! Have your kids identify the number the monkeys are holding. Then, match them to the zoo with the same number of animals.
You can make this a self-correcting activity by putting matching stickers or colored dots on the back of each puzzle. Then, your kids can flip each puzzle over when they’re done to check their work.

Zoo Math Counting Mat
This counting mat is great for practicing counting and stacking. Have kids stack LEGO bricks or counting blocks on each numbered circle. They’ll put one block on the number one and ten on the number ten, etc.

Zoo Theme Preschool Number Cards
These number cards can be used several different ways. You can spread them out and make a matching game with kids matching the number card to the animal card. Or, you could have kids put a counter on each animal as they count aloud.
Either way, kids will work on number recognition and counting to ten. You could also have them spell out the number word with letter magnets or beads.

Build a Zoo Train
Kids will love building these zoo animal trains. Each train has four cars – a numeral, counting dots, tallies, and number words.
You could put magnets on the back of each piece and build on the fridge. Or, build the trains in a pocket chart. Of course, they can just be built on the floor or table, as well.
